YRNF Projects and Resolutions - Puerto Rican Statehood
Taylor Tomnitz, a senior real estate agent with Los Angeles-based D.R. Horton since 2011, participates in a variety of charitable and political initiatives. One organization Taylor Tomnitz is a member of is the Young Republican National Federation (YRNF), a political organization which consists primarily of Republican Party members between the ages of 18 and 40.
One major nationwide initiative the YRNF has been working on is the statehood of Puerto Rico, which it supported by passing a resolution in its favor in April of 2017. Despite the U.S. citizenship status of its residents, tradition of military service, and long history as an American territory, Puerto Rico has no representation in Congress and its people cannot cast votes for the presidency as a result.
The YRNF believes Puerto Rican statehood is consistent with Republican values such as individual liberty, personal rights, and inclusion, and that this move will help further include the Hispanic community of America in the country's political life. It joins other major Republican figures and organizations, including the Republican National Convention, President Donald J. Trump, and Vice President Mike Pence in its support of this initiative.
